Protected Species Surveys
Under UK and European legislation, many species and their habitats are legally protected to maintain populations at a favourable status and prevent reckless harm or displacement.
Following a Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, a secondary (Stage 2) survey may be required to confirm the presence or likely absence of at-risk species and to inform appropriate mitigation and conservation strategies.
We deliver a full range of protected species surveys in line with industry best practices, including:
- bats,
- great crested newts,
- reptiles,
- badgers,
- dormice,
- riparian mammals (otters and water vole),
- and nesting birds.
Where necessary, we also offer support with mitigation licensing, ensuring compliance with legal requirements while promoting biodiversity benefits. Whether for small-scale developments or large infrastructure projects, our expert team delivers a seamless process from initial surveys through to post-development monitoring.
