Birds have always been my passion. There’s nothing quite like watching the movements of a hunting raptor or hearing the first song of the dawn chorus. I’ve spent years developing my skills as a birder, , and I love being out in the field, whether conducting surveys, monitoring breeding populations, or advising on conservation strategies.
Alongside my love for ornithology, I have a strong background in botany, which gives me a broader perspective when assessing habitats. I studied at Bangor University, where I was lucky to learn from brilliant scientists and form lasting collaborations with like-minded peers—some of whom I still work with today.
In 2016, I co-founded Ecology Resources, gaining invaluable experience in running a consultancy, but what I love most is being hands-on in the field. Moving to Ecosphere Ecology has given me the opportunity to focus on the work that truly matters to me while being part of a team that shares my values.
Beyond ecology, my biggest priority is my two boys. It’s important to me that they grow up understanding the natural world—maybe not as a career path, but in a way that instils respect for the environment, whether they choose to go into the industry or not. Balancing work and family is something I value deeply, and I’m grateful that my role allows me to do both.
I enjoy working closely with clients, making sure they not only get the best ecological advice but also feel supported throughout the process. Whether it’s developers, landowners, or conservation groups, I believe good communication and collaboration are just as important as the science itself.
