I have over a decade of experience in arboriculture and ecology, with the past six years dedicated to assessing physical habitats and inland watercourses to support biodiversity impact assessments and enhancement proposals. My expertise has naturally evolved toward Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), which is now my primary focus.
With experience across a wide range of industries, I am a skilled generalist ecologist with a deep understanding of planning policies and processes. My approach is driven by the pursuit of pragmatic solutions that balance development needs with nature conservation, ensuring sustainable and ecologically sound outcomes.
My passion for habitat management began during my time in Australia, where I gained hands-on experience in habitat creation, restoration, and sustainable land use. For the past six years, I have had the privilege of managing a small nature reserve overlooking Rutland Water, home to a large expanse of neutral grassland. There, I designed and implemented habitat creation projects and spent many summer evenings actively managing them.
Beyond the intrinsic, restorative value of caring for the land, this role allowed me to witness firsthand the positive correlation between sympathetic management and increasing wildlife presence, particularly among reptile and bat populations.
As a member of my Parish Council, I have been actively involved in managing green spaces for biodiversity, overseeing and delivering numerous planting schemes in collaboration with the local community.
Outside of work, I am an avid mountain biker and climber, always seeking new challenges in the very landscapes I strive to protect.
